This Luna looks great in that gown because the color contrasts well with her pale skin very well.

I don't think this would look good on the pony Luna, because Luna already is dark blue, and the colors would blend. the coronation gown would have been great if it had linings of silver and the colors of sunset; i.e. orange fading to dark purple or blue. then again I'm not too sure with color theory.
